The show, Black Mirror, from BBC4 is simply one of the best Sci-Fi TV series of all time. The execution of internwining futuristic concepts w/ a simple narrative is brillant.
Another, show that does this in the adult cartoon genre is Rick and Morty. Funny w/ super advanced scientific/technological concepts.
It is my opinion that if SingularDTV does not hold a standard for content (cinematography, screenwriting, conceptual) at these levels, then it will be an battle attracting viewership and attention to the SDTV.
A good example of BAD quality in the technoTV world is Mr Robot.
EDIT Heres why:
Take a closer look at some of the lazy shots in Mr Robot. There are a lot of 'dead shots' and they use that same off center, head in corner/shoulder cutoff shot over and over. I find the content to be very sensationalist and overly drab. It reminds me of the Anonymous aesthetic - Vice, psuedo-hipster crap w/ some American Psycho thrown in. I feel like the show is dictating to me in some way how i should feel about something. I do not like that.
The try to remedy it all with sudden clangs of noise music against a (negative alternate-reality Brooklyn-esque) tired iconography.
Do not get me wrong, some of the shots really nice and they definitely push limits of TV. To me though, a tv show is no different from a film - and a film is a complete scultpture. There shouldnt be any aspect left to laziness, self-promotion, or crying for attention. It should just be and be good. I also find the show generally really annoying and preachy tho. But again, there are some good things to take and some intense acting by the lead guy.
